From what I gather, this was the Coen brothers take on the story of Job- the man in the bible that, despite his relentless faith, got relentlessly screwed.  In some ways it reminded me of No Country- similar color palette and visuals (shot by Robert Deakins again) and a certain tense pacing marked by extended silence.  In other ways, it didn’t- this was funnier and was markedly more Jewish.  Another terrific portrait of American history from two of the best filmmakers of our time.
